1. Not medical advice

GainBuddy provides general fitness and nutrition information. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and is not a substitute for a doctor, registered dietitian or other qualified professional. Never disregard professional advice or delay seeking it because of something in the app.

2. Talk to a professional first if…

  • you are pregnant, trying to conceive or breastfeeding;
  • you have or had an eating disorder, or a heart, kidney, liver, metabolic (e.g. diabetes) or other chronic condition;
  • you take medication that affects appetite, blood sugar, blood pressure or heart rate;
  • you are under 18, over 65, or returning from injury, surgery or a long break from exercise.

3. Estimates are estimates

Calorie needs, macro targets, body-fat ranges, posture notes and nutrition values are calculated with published equations, food databases and AI models. Individual results vary and data can be wrong. Treat numbers as a starting point that the app adjusts from your real progress, not as exact measurements.

4. Kosher, halal and allergy information

Kosher / halal certification badges and meal-plan dietary rules are detected automatically (from Open Food Facts labels, package photos read by AI and community reports) and are never a guarantee. Each badge shows where the information came from and when; always check the package and follow your own religious authority.

The same applies to allergens: meal plans avoid the allergies you enter, but product recipes change and labels may be incomplete. If you have a food allergy, read every ingredient list.

5. Built-in safety limits

  • We never set calorie targets below a safe floor (at least your estimated resting energy, and no less than 1,200 kcal for women or 1,500 kcal for men).
  • We limit the pace of weight loss and flag rapid loss or a low body-mass index.
  • Users under 18 get maintenance targets only — no calorie deficit.
  • You can hide calorie numbers entirely in Settings.

6. Exercise safely

Warm up, use proper form and appropriate loads, and use a spotter or safety equipment for heavy lifts. Stop immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or sharp or unusual pain.

7. If you are struggling

If food, weight or exercise are causing you distress, you are not alone and help is available:

  • United States — NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association)
  • Israel — ANAD Israel (עמותת אנ"א)

In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US, 101 in Israel).
